Multi-platinum producer, artist, promoter, DJ David Guetta, is touring the states promoting the release of his new album POP LIFE which debuted at 3 on the iTunes Dance Album Chart. Guetta's A-list events include patrons such as Prince, Speilberg, Gisele, and Kate Moss. As a promoter, his club nights, F*** Me I'm Famous in Ibiza, Paris and London, are known for breaking social barriers and last nights show at Vanguard in Hollywood was no exception.

It's a lazy sunny Sunday afternoon at the posh Mondrian hotel located on the fabled Sunset Blvd Strip and as I pass the glowing glass walls and the Phillipe Starck Décor of the lobby I suddenly realize that I'm about to lounge by the pool with one of the worlds most famous DJ's…

Maybe I shouldn't have rented a 50 seat private charter bus for all my friends and spent a debocherous sleepless morning… oh well.. I order a green tea to make up for the liver damage.. take a seat on a lounger next to David and get right to it.

How was your show last night? "Vanguard reached its 3000 capacity by 10:30 and the energy at the show was unbelievable. I'm really enjoying this US tour."

How did the concept for POP LIFE originate? "I always produce music for the party, songs I feel would work in my sets but also songs you can listen to at home or on the radio. With POP LIFE I wanted to use dirty beats mixed with emotion, melodies and lyrics. I wanted to produce a record that could be played by DJ's but also Radio. It's a hard line to walk but I'm not afraid to go "POP" and write Dance tracks with melodies and vocals. You see, in Europe, Dance Music makes up 30% of what you hear on Radio but in the states its not considered mainstream. The time is coming

when dance music will be more accepted in the states and POP LIFE is my preparation for this transition. I want to push this concept forward.

Joachim Garraud is your production partner, what is the creative relationship you share with him?

Joachim sold me my first synthesizer.. a Yamaha rack mount unit that had a bass sound used in the track, "Can you feel it" by Fingers ink. I was so excited to use that bass sound on my tracks! I was working with an Atari 1040 St at the time.. (laughs) and Joachim had just opened his first studio. He was doing a lot of commercial work, engineering and paying the bills but creatively, not much else. We decided to meet every Monday to make music and that is how we started working together many years ago.

Who else did you collaborate with on POP LIFE?

I worked with vocalist Chris Willis on the single "Love is Gone." He has a gospel sound. I actually went to London and did voice casting. We auditioned a lot of singers. That is how I found Tara
